Toyota 4Runner - Expand Your World
Some jobs are tough. Others are tougher. And some are like a drug you don't want to quit.
I've wanted to film in the PNW wilderness for a long time, and it couldn't have happened with a better team. We got rained out, we got lightning struck, we got plowed off a mountain by a snowstorm, and every time the team rose to the occasion with supreme chutzpah and resolve. It was four days of artful overcoming — surrounded by the most breathtaking natural beauty. From our first calls with Saatchi, Conner, Brittany and Chris were top-tier collaborators — generous, open-minded and incredibly gifted at their jobs. It was a privilege, a delight, and despite all the setbacks, I'm very proud of what everyone pulled off. In this director's cut I wanted to instill the same sense of fun and playfulness that colored much of our shooting experience.
A few memories come to mind as I post this... Hunting locations in the wilderness for five days with producer Jeff Tannebring and Ken Coble. Facetiming Logan on his farm while he constructed a dog mount from scratch (and then against all odds, retrofitted it with underwater housing). Mark's show-stopping stories of starring in "Hot Dog," drug smuggling, murder sprees in Alaska, and escaping the church of Scientology. Producer Chris sharing his health regimen with me, and bonding on my first dry shoot. Conner's constant creative trust and encouragement, making everyone feel on the same team. Corey Rood and company climbing a mountain in a thunderstorm hauling a hundred of pounds of gear. The nonstop shenaniganry in Casa de Armcar with Damien, Preston and Matt. Drone masters Bryce and Calen shredding maneuver after maneuver, no matter what I threw at them. If I keep going we'll be here all day, so let me just add that the whole cast — Terrence, Cedric, Liz, Cate, Tyler, Annie, Jules, Maria and Grace — you're all rockstars and made work feel like play.
Scott and Terry I love you!
